Our Story

AmmonAI was established by four ambitious individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds, including Chemistry, Mathematics, and Mechanical Engineering, who share a common passion for exploring the applications of artificial intelligence in the modern agriculture industry.

Our Vision

Given the current unsustainable overfertilsation practices globally, AmmonAI hopes to lead a sustainable agricultural revolution by redefining the future of fertilisation practices, reducing environmental impact, and fostering global food security through innovative, data-driven solutions.

Our Mission

At AmmonAI, we are committed to harnessing cutting-edge machine learning techniques to transform the way synthetic fertilizers are used in agriculture. We hope to revolutionize farming practices by guiding farmers to optimise their fertilisation strategy.

Overfertilisation refers to the use of excessive fertiliser on crops, more than what is necessary in order to achieve optimal plant growth. Currently according to Our World In Data, only around 35% of fertiliser added is used by crops, meaning that 75 million tonnes of nitrogen runs off annually into our rivers, lakes and natural environments.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), traditional agricultural practices, including fertilizer application, are responsible for approximately 6% of global greenhouse gas emissions, with a significant portion being nitrous oxide.  

As suggested from studies by WHO, agricultural runoff has led to nitrate levels exceeding safe limits in various regions worldwide, affecting both aquatic and human quality of life. High levels of nitrates from fertilizers can contaminate groundwater, which is a critical source of drinking water for many communities.

AmmonAI aims to combat those harmful environmental practices by providing farmers guidance on their fertilisation strategies i.e. predicting the right fertiliser amount to be added at the right time based on AI-driven readings of soil properties and weather forecasts, ensuring maximum crop productivity and minimal impact on the planet!
By using advancements in AI, we can offer a means of a more guided fertiliser application, ensuring minimal impact to the environment whilst simultaneously reducing the cost of production; a rare case where the prospects of maximising profit and protecting the planet line up.
